The UMR 6570 TELEMME depends on the University of Provence (Aix-Marseille I) and CNRS (National Institute of Humanities).In this context, it is mainly connected to sections 33 "Modern and Contemporary Worlds" and 39 "Spaces, Territories and Societies.

Founded in 1994 by Gerard Chastagnaret, then headed by Bernard Cousin, it is, since 2007, under the responsibility of Jean-Marie Guillon.

TELEMME UMR is a multidisciplinary UMR grouping geographers, development specialists, historians, medievalists and modernists contemporanee, Hispanic and ethnolinguists.

It has today 67 members and 73 doctoral students. Associate members consist of a "hard core", composed of foreign or french teacher-researchers who belong to related research centers, and retired fellows.
